I was introduced to yoga when I was 20. Although it was not a way of life for me in the beginning, soon enough my mom, who was living a yogic way of life and teaching yoga classes in Ankara, Turkey attracted my attention and lured me to move back to Ankara (from Istanbul) and join her to practice, teach and live a yogic way of life.
I received my first teacher training certificate from Vivekananda Yoga University in 2004 and then I embarked on an exploratory path and tried many different styles of yoga with teachers from all around the world. I have received trainings on Yin Yoga (with Sarah Powers), Vedic Chanting (at Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram), Dynamic Yoga (with Godfrey Devereux), Structural Yoga Therapy (with Mukunda Stiles), Ashtanga Yoga (with various different teachers all over the world) and also have received teacher training certificates from some of them. Then I joined the Independent Yoga Network as a “registered yoga teacher” and Yoga Alliance as an “experienced registered yoga teacher”.
I chose Ashtanga Yoga as my own path for the last 16 years. When I realized that mastering Ashtanga Yoga system does not come from certificates earned but rather from practicing and total self-devotion I showed every effort to practice with and learn from ashtangis who were lucky enough to be in the presence of Guruji, Sri K Pattabhi Jois. Practicing with them encouraged me to visit Mysore, India where I truly enjoyed the opportunity to practice Ashtanga Yoga with Guruji’s grandson Sharath and his daughter Saraswati.
I taught Vinyasa Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga and Yin Yoga classes for over six years between 2004 and 2010 at YogaYolu until I got married in 2010 and moved to Seoul, South Korea and then to London, UK to join my husband.
After years of practicing alone, I had the opportunity to practice with Hamish Hendry in London in 2011 for a year.
I have practiced during both my pregnancies in London and Birmingham, MI and felt grateful for the system of Ashtanga yoga that helped me throughout these special times.
I then moved to Irvine, CA in August 2018. After self-practicing for some time, I finally found my teacher David Miliotis at Samjiva Nilayam, www.samjiva.com our home...
I am so blessed to be able to practice under the guidance of him. Such a special soul, wonderful community… Grateful for all...
